Samsung is really putting efforts to compete with its rival, Apple iPad. So Samsung is back with its premium tablet series that is the Galaxy Tab S series, but this time Samsung is taking a clever step and trying to beat iPads in budget segment as well. With that said Samsung recently launched The Galaxy Tab S6 Lite as a competitor to iPad 7 Generation.
The Galaxy Tab S6 Lite is a cheaper version of the Galaxy Tab S6. So let's find out about this Tablet's performance.
DESIGN:
The Tab is just 7mm thick and weighs 467 grams. It has an Aluminium back with matte finish. There's no doubt that this tab feels really premium and one can feel its richness instantly after lifting it up in one's hand.
The Tab S6 Lite comes with a 10.4 inches display which is a TFT panel, and because of this the display quality isn't good enough but considering the price it is nice and comes with a resolution of 1200x2000 pixels, 5:3 aspect ratio and ~224ppi.
The right edge has power key, volume keys and a Micro-SD card tray(along with a SIM tray in LTE variant). The left edge is clear and the top contains a headphone jack, speaker grill and a microphone, similarly this tab also features another speaker grill at the bottom along with a Type-C port for charging.
At the back there's Samsung Logo and a branding from AKG which makes the quality of the speakers outstanding.
So overall the tab looks really premium and elegant.
CAMERA, MEMORY and PLATFORM:
Galaxy Tab S6 Lite sports a single rear camera of 8MP which is capable of shooting videos with a resolution of 1080@30fps, also there's a 5MP front camera sensor with same video recording capabilities.
This tab comes with Samsung's own processor i.e, Exynos 9611 which is a decent chipset, however, it is not powerful enough to manage heavy gaming tasks, so you should not expect a seamless experience while playing PUBG! Also this tab comes with Android 10 and One UI 2.0 out of the box.
The Tab S6 Lite disappoints with the fact that it has only one storage option of 64GB along with 4GB of RAM. At least 128GB ROM is a serious requirement nowadays however, we can expand this memory upto 1TB with a SD card.
BATTERY:
This tablet comes with a huge battery capacity of 7040mAh which gives decent performance. It comes along with a 15W fast charger and the tablet takes around 2.5 hours to get fully charged. The battery on normal usage lasts for around 1.5-2 days with 60% display brightness.
What is Special for Students?
So Galaxy Tab S6 Lite comes with an S-Pen in the box which is an outstanding decision by Samsung. And this S-Pen which sometimes feels really cheap and plasticky(you will get used to it) comes in really handy for students. With the pre-installed Samsung Notes app, the note taking experience becomes great. Taking notes is really easy and handy because it already has some features which are added in iPads this year like Shape correction for making better diagrams, also converting handwriting into text, extracting text from any website and directly copying it to our notes etc. With some really useful features, this tab is ideal for students and yes! there is some latency in the S-Pen, but still you will not face any problems especially while taking notes.
The S-Pen connects magnetically to the right edge of the tablet which don't require any sort of charging which is a great thing and not just this, the stylus is also pressure sensitive which makes it ideal for artists too, who don't have a really high budget to buy something very professional.
VERDICT:
The all new Samsung Galaxy Tab S6 Lite is fairly a good tablet to have and costs just 28,000 Indian Rupees for the Wi-Fi variant and 32,000 Rupees for LTE variant. On comparing this with iPad which comes with same price point, we can say that you should go with the Tab S6 Lite, if you do not want to do any sort of heavy productive work because it comes with S-Pen which makes it a very useful machine and with iPads, you will have to pay extra 7,500 rupees for the Apple Pencil.
But in case you want to perform some heavy gaming, video editing or any thing related to basic music production then you should opt for the iPad.
The Galaxy Tab S6 Lite is going to be a great deal for students, teachers, artists as well as for normal users for basic day to day work.
